Future Lab launched the MAP toolpack, a creative learning tool tailored to the eye level of Korean youth, based on the'MicroBit' developed by the BBC through crowdfunding in June.
The MAP tool pack is a creative learning tool developed by Future Lab with the most effective contents for coding learning to close the gap in youth IT education.It goes from simple memorization of computer language to project-based planning, development, and beta testing. It is structured so that you can learn coding naturally while experiencing the process.
In order for Future Lab to take the lead in creating a virtuous cycle of sharing, this event was prepared by returning the MAP tool pack crowdfunding proceeds and the entire workshop participation fee to donations. In particular, in a situation where online education due to Corona 19 is spreading, Future Lab decided to provide full donation for the spread of text interpretation services in order to improve the right to learn for children and adolescents with hearing impairments in the blind spot.
To this end, Future Lab selected 26 deaf children and adolescents in consideration of the home environment and willingness to learn in cooperation with specialized organizations such as the SK Happiness Sharing Foundation and the Sori Watch Pass, so that they can receive online education smoothly. Provide AI text interpretation service. This service is characterized by AI automatically generating subtitles by recognizing the voice of educational videos, and providing various functions such as customized translation for each subject and saving subtitle contents.
Sook-Hyun Oh, team leader at Smilegate Future Lab, said, “Amid the spread of Corona 19, non-face-to-face education using an online system is actively progressing, and most of the classes are not supported by subtitles or sign language interpretation, so children and adolescents with hearing impairments have great difficulties. He said, “This support project is meaningful in that it was planned with donations from Future Lab participants, and although it is a small effort, I hope that it will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the right to learn for children and adolescents with hearing impairments.”
