Lifelogging is a word that combines Life and Log, and was first written in an article entitled'As We May Think' by Baneva Bush, the director of the National Institute of Science and Technology in the United States in 1945, contributed to the'Atlantic Monthly'. Mentioned. He conceived of a form in which people record their lives in any form, in which cameras and recorders are used to permanently record and expand all actions a person does.
Since then, research related to lifelogging has been applied in a wide range of fields such as psychology, social networks, and storytelling, as well as data that assist users' memories from life-oriented applications. So far, there have been about 7,000 foreign academic papers related to lifelogging since 1990. According to the technology research group Acceleration Studies Foundation (ASF), it has been classified into one of four types (augmented reality, lifelogging, mirror world, and virtual world) that implement Metaverse.
Today, users can easily access lifelogging service with the spread of various devices with built-in cameras and microphones. From social media fields such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, where users lightly share their daily lives based on various contents according to individual choices, users can use virtual avatars to work, play, consume, communicate with games and entertainment. It is expanding to the industrial field. Some people share their daily lives around high-intimacy relationships in an online environment, while others seek volatility for a lighter purpose or expect to reduce gaps with reality. Each has a different purpose of use, and the criteria for classifying the scope of use, including daily records and emotional exchange, are different for each user's emotions. In the process, various issues such as exposure of users' privacy, data collection, and criminal abuse are also discussed. Nevertheless, there are many reasons why lifelogging services based on daily life are in the spotlight because social distance becomes commonplace, and personal communication in a non-face-to-face environment strengthens connectivity. In particular, it serves as a window to express self, centered on the MZ generation, who are accustomed to expressing their own tastes and senses using various contents.
Gartner Inc., an information technology research and advisory firm in the United States, cited People centricity and Privacy-Enhancing Computation in the 2021 Strategic Technology Trend. Research and Markets) forecasts that the AR·VR technology market will reach $7.76 billion (approximately 8.9 trillion won) by 2026. It is not yet easy to clearly define the area of lifelogging service expressed in the metaverse environment, but I think the scope of the platform is highly likely to evolve in any form.
It will provide more useful implications if we continue to think about how to connect artificial intelligence and daily life recording services in connection with the advancement of technologies such as GAN, Data, Cognitive Science, IT Echnological Convergence, Human Factors or Ergonomics, and ICT in the future.
